Configure Administrator's Application

General Settings Tab

After you have configured the agent module you need to configure the Administrator’s Application to correctly receive and obtain XML files. To do this, run the Expert Network Inventory (eni.exe) and select System->Preferences of the Main Menu.

The following window will be displayed:

First, you need to specify the folder(s) where XML files will be copied. To do this, click the Add Path button at the top of the window and enter the path to folder with XML files. You can have several folders at different places.

Second, the Path to the report folder edit control allows you to specify the path to the folder where the program reports are. The default value is the Reports subdirectory.

Data Management Tab

If some of your XML files are stored on an FTP server or comes from remote computers by email you need to switch onto the Data Management Tab and setup the settings for these connections.

For the FTP connection, you must specify the host name (domain or IP), directory with XML-files, your login and password.

To get XML files by e-mail enter the server name, type (POP3), your account name and password.

Database Tab

These setting are defined during installation and shouldn't be changed unless absolutely necessary. The first drop down box allows you to change the database server type. Default choice is embedded server. It is simple and needs nothing to work.

If you already have the Firebird server installed in your system you can use local or remote server type which gives you additional benefits such as multiple access to the database from different computers.

When using the embedded or local database server you should specify the path to the system database. By default it is stored in the \Users\Public\Documents\ExpertUnion.Com\Expert Network Inventory\DB subdirectory on the system disk.

To have access to the database installed on the remote server you have to switch the Server Type combobox to "Remote Firebird Server" and enter the remote server name in the Server Name field. This string must contain the server name or IP address. Also type the full filename to the database file (eni.fdb) in the edit box below.

If needed, you can change the authentification login and password (for the newly created database only!).

If you have changed the setting, it is recommended to test the connection by clicking the Test Connection button.

Notice, it may take some time to check the connection for a remote server.

At the end, save your changes by clicking OK, and then Close.
